Believer’s Baptism

Believer's baptism is the act of publicly identifying with Jesus Christ through the symbolic immersion in water, signifying spiritual death to sin and resurrection to new life in Christ.

What is Baptism?

Why Baptism?

Obedience to Christ's Command: Believer's baptism is important because it is a direct commandment given by Jesus Himself. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus instructs his disciples to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."

Public Declaration of Faith: Baptism serves as a public declaration of one's faith in Jesus Christ. In Acts 2:38, Peter tells the crowd, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Through baptism, believers publicly proclaim their repentance and their allegiance to Christ.

Identification with Christ's Death and Resurrection: Believer's baptism symbolizes the believer's identification with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. As Paul writes in Romans 6:4, "We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." Baptism signifies the believer's spiritual death to sin and new life in Christ.

Unity in the Body of Christ: Baptism is a unifying act within the body of believers, marking one's entrance into the community of faith. As Paul emphasizes in 1 Corinthians 12:13, "For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit." Baptism signifies the believer's inclusion in the universal body of Christ, regardless of background or status.
